Achieve peace, quiet, and solitude here at our little slice of heaven in Vermont's central hills. This cozy all-wood cabin is situated with beautiful views of rolling meadows and a small brook to the rear. Explore our private 26 acres on rustic logging paths nestled in almost 700 neighboring vacant acres. We are close to Brookfield (the floating bridge), Northfield, Norwich University, and Randolph. Come for foliage, skiing, or relaxing. To skiing at Sugarbush it's ~45 min, Killington, & Stowe 1 hr. The cottage is a stand-alone house with it's own deck, garage, and yard in proximity to one other vacation rental home and our house on the property. While being a studio, there is still a spacious queen size bedroom area, closet, and a sizeable kitchen to cook in. Fully heated and cozy during winter with all amenities provided (quality linens, pots/pans, wifi, hygiene basics). The private deck off the back is wonderful for sipping coffee in the morning and listening to birds and the babbling brook. This area is also known for stargazing, nationally, as a neighboring landowner has protected nearly 700 acres of land from light pollution for optimal star gazing. Truly disconnect here, as there is typically spotty to no cell phone service for most carriers. We do have a land line that you may use (see house rules). Wireless Internet is available at decent speeds for surfing and emails. We do not TV or Cable, but do have a small TV/DVD player we can set up before arrival if you'd like! DIY locally sourced (whenever possible) breakfast items provided. Farm fresh eggs, bread & jam, dairy products (milk, half&half, yogurt), bagels and cream cheese, coffee, and of course VT maple syrup. Feel free to let us know if you have dietary concerns so we can provide appropriate breakfast items. We are typically here at the property, as we live in a home nextdoor the cottage. Level of interaction is flexible. We love to meet new people and visit, but we are often busy with farm chores, so total privacy is easily achieved! Fairly remote rural setting in a picturesque farming valley. Depending on a north or south approach, we are 1+ miles down a rural dirt road, as much of Vermont is! Low-key winter activities are great in our little valley. There are cross country ski opportunities, plenty of snowshoeing, sledding, and lovely winter walks. Downhill resort skiing is all around us- Sugarbush, Stowe, and Killington are all ~1 hr drive, Sugarbush perhaps a little less. Surprisingly good selection of excellent restaurants just south in the quaint town of Randolph. For other popular spots, It is 25 minutes to Montpelier (bustling little capital city of Vermont with lots to do and is walkable), 35 minutes to Waterbury, 20 minutes to Randolph, 20 minutes to Brookfield, 15 minutes to Exit 5 off Highway 89, and 45 minutes to Burlington Airport. Definitely need a car, as public transportation in our area is not really existent. 4WD or winter tires definitely recommended during winter months, other times of the year any vehicle/tires are just fine on our dirt road. As mentioned before, we are 1+ miles down a dirt road, depending on a northern or southern approach on our road. Our town maintains the road very very well, but no amount of snow plowing or gravel will make a dirt road pavement, so please be prepared in winter time for snow or ice and mud during spring. Did you see the note about no cell service and no TV? Just making sure :)
