Property description: It's early morning. You waken to the songs and chirping of many birds, the only sound besides that of the breeze. You take your tea or coffee to our summer dining room or outside to our picnic area and marvel at the beauty of morning fog evaporating from mountaintops in the distance. Our spectacular views of open fields, surrounding hills and the valley that fronts our direct view of the Magic Mountain ski area inspire you to plan your day's activities. There is much to explore and enjoy in all directions, in nearby towns such as Weston, Chester, Grafton, Woodstock, Manchester (with its famous outlet shops). Or you can opt for relaxing at home or swimming, hiking, biking, playing tennis or golf at local venues, or shopping for artisanal foods at the local market or nearby farms. Always, you enjoy the peace, quiet and beauty of our home in the southern Vermont countryside. NB.. SKI SEASON 2021-2022 is taken. Our location is perfect for skiers as it's in the so-called ''Magic Triangle'' of ski areas: Stratton, Bromley and Magic can be reached in only 5 to 20 minutes by car. From our house we can see Magic face on and Stratton thru the maple trees. A panoramic view at the west edge of our woods features both Bromley and Stratton mountains. Okemo is 35 minutes drive away. We've rented to ski families since 1993, with one family returning for the season 5 years in a row , and another family for 8 full seasons. Kids and adults alike love our big sliding hill (we provide sleds) and our several hay fields for cross-country skiing. But not just skiers return to our home. I 'm happy to report that many of our renters in summer and fall are also returnees! Our home is perfect for families with children, who love to play outdoors on our several big lawns. If it's a rainy day, there are many inside games housed in the DR corner cupboard. As well, kids love to explore the nicks and crannies of our interesting house. They're thrilled if, by luck, they're able to see wildlife. Dating from the early 19th century, our classic VT farmhouse has enormous charm. Many of the rooms are super sized. Our family has owned it for more than 85 years and have decorated with family antiques, art, and Oriental rugs. There's a library, a stone fireplace, a grand piano and a main dining table that seats 8. Lovely views can be seen from several rooms. Our kitchen is well equipped with Cuisinart, cookbooks, spices, herbs, two dish sets, ie: all the accoutrements for gourmet cooking.. Many enjoy our ''summer dining room" in our old woodshed next to the kitchen. It looks at Magic Mountain, as does our large outdoor picnic area. Our three bedrooms, two of which are very large, feature comfortable beds, with a good supply of seasonal blankets. We provide bed and bath linens for a small fee; and both standing and reversible window fans keep the bedrooms comfortable in summer. Our large, sunny dining room abuts the kitchen and a dish closet, and our LR is a large "floor thru" with a grand piano, fireplace and library. Bring your own CDs for the player in the LR. The TV/reading room is downstairs and has a comfortable couch and ottomans. The land: . Humphreys Farm is about half way up Hell's Peak Road. and almost exactly one mile due north from Londonderry's main street, Route 11. Our 65-acre property is ringed with mountains, fields and forest, and in many places boasts open 360-degree views. The front yard features a dramatic view of Magic Mountain's ski area and lovely valley. Our large lawns extend to the front, rear and side of the house with many beautiful flower beds. . The area: There's tons to do in the Londonderry, Weston, Peru, Manchester, Chester, Grafton area, and other attractions are within easy driving distance. There are many restaurants, shops and recreational sites. Swimming, hiking, biking, canoeing, fishing antiquing, summer theatre, concerts, shopping, visits to historical sites, a farmer's market are just some of the area's attractions. Two extra special restaurants, SOLO and The Garden, are in Londonderry, and others can be found with a short drive to Manchester, Weston or Peru.
