Set in beautiful mature gardens, L'Ancienne Bergerie is everything that we imagine when we think of an Old Provencal house. Close to the entrance of the charming village of La Garde-Freinet, this villa is just a couple of minutes walk away from the centre of the village with its markets, local shops, museums and restaurants.
With solid stone walls ensuring that the house remains cool even in the height of the summer, L'Ancienne Bergerie has all that you expect of rural France - natural stone floors, a vast and practical kitchen, open fireplace in the living room and dining room and pretty terracotta tiled bedrooms.
The ground floor living areas all open onto a vast stone terrace with a table set under the shade of the trees looking as if it is about to star in one of those Merchant-Ivory family sagas. Lawns, terraces and mature planting surround the house offering a shady corner throughout the day. A stone barbecue and a large heated pool surrounded by olive trees, jasmine, roses and exotic palm trees with a covered seating and outdoor dining area complete the offering.
The delightful village of La Garde-Freinet hosts a number of events throughout the year such as the Summer Carnival and the Fête de la Chataigne. The hills and walks of the Massif des Maures are on your doorstep as well as the attractions of the historic fort and the ancient village itself.
