The Quénécan forest and Abbaye de Bon Repos are not to be missed. There is also a Sunday Market held by the Abbaye where you can enjoy lots of local produce and then people watch whilst drinking a coffee or beer in one of the restaurants. For those wishing to visit the coastline, there are many attractive villages and beaches about an hour away. The pretty seaside town of Binic, is one of those, with a Marina, beaches and restaurants. For the younger members, the Zoo de Pont Scorff is about an hour away. Or you could visit Oceanopolis in Brest, 1hr 15 mins away, but well worth a day visit for the whole family. Kingoland Amusement Park also, is great for little ones and just over an hour away. BRITTANY REGION Brittany is lucky enough to have good weather most of the year, of course with days of rain too, but it has a microclimate, which means it is often 10 degrees more than the UK in the summer. It is the ideal location to visit many beautiful places with many things to see and do. We suggest you make a trip to a Tourist Office who can offer you loads of advice and ideas, along with maps and leaflets to help you. Brittany is easily accessible from the UK via several Ferry Ports and is also served by flights from the UK to 4 French airports. From spectacular beaches with rugged coastlines to vast sandy expanses, to peaceful woods and forests and the famous Nantes-Brest Canal, Brittany has all the makings of a perfect holiday. The cuisine in the area includes crepes and galettes and of course the Seafood! Mussels and oysters are available throughout the region, particularly in the summer months. Cider is produced here and local varieties are available in all supermarkets and restaurants. During the summer, numerous villages and towns celebrate the “Pardon” which is predominately a religious thanksgiving but is always followed by a celebratory meal (with a drink or two!) and Breton dancing.
