2 Bedroom Ski Chalet in Cornimont
Set in 5,000m2 of private land / forest at 650m altitude, the chalet is situated in the heart of the beautiful Vosges mountains. It provides an ideal base for outdoor activities, particularly cycling, skiing, hiking and mountain biking.
Located on the edge of the pretty town of Cornimont, the chalet is accessed via a private driveway which it shares with one other chalet (also rented by the same owner), making it very private but not isolated. Surrounded by forest and nature, there are superb views across the valley and down to the town of Cornimont.
The chalet is comfortable and cosy with luxurious furniture and fittings. There is a well equipped and modern kitchen (including dishwasher & Nespresso machine) with a large dining table which benefits from the views to the front of the chalet.
There is also a lounge area on the open plan ground floor with a comfortable sofa and large smart TV.
Upstairs there are two cosy bedrooms. Bedroom 1 has a king size bed and smart TV and bedroom 2 includes two single beds, both with luxurious bedding included. In total the chalet sleeps 4 people.
Also located on the first floor is the bathroom, with a beautiful ‘his and hers’ natural stone wash hand basin.
At the very top of the chalet, accessible from the 2nd bedroom, is a small snug area where you can escape to read a book or simply relax on a big comfy beanbag.
Outside the chalet has a large wrap around terrace benefitting from the beautiful views to the front, and the tranquility of the forest to the side. There is a covered picnic table area, comfortable outdoor seating and in the warmer months, why not relax with a book in one of the two hanging chairs which give you the impression of being in the forest amongst the singing birds.
There is also a lockable and secure shed just behind the chalet for the sole use of guests wishing to bring bicycles, skis etc.

The Vosges mountains offer a somewhat unspoilt and undiscovered corner of France to explore. They are located close to where France meets Luxembourg, Germany and Switzerland. The chalet is located in the High Vosges, with peaks reaching up to 1,400m. It is sparsely populated with an abundance of natural beauty, and its peaceful and quiet roads make it an ideal region for active holidays.

ROAD CYCLING
There is plenty to keep road cyclists happy in the High Vosges, with numerous opportunities for all levels of cyclist. The degree of cycling challenge in this part of France is really only limited by the energy in your legs, with climbs generally between 5-10% gradient (but, of course, there is usually a pretty descent on the other side). The highest peaks are the Grand Ballon (1424m) and the Hohneck (1362m).
The Tour de France has passed through the Vosges several times in recent years, with a summit finish at the top of the Planches des Belles Filles seemingly becoming increasingly popular with the organisers. There is a very nice 65km route which takes in the Planches des Belles Filles. It takes about 20 mins to drive to a point on the route, or if you’re feeling really brave you can just make your ride longer and go from the chalet!
For the avid road cyclists, the Col de la Schlucht, Col de Bonhomme, Col de Platzerwasel and recommended ballons such as the Petit Ballon, Grand Ballon, Ballon d'Alsace and Ballon de Servance all offer cycling too good to resist.
A challenging day ride for experienced cyclists is the Tour de Munster, a nice tour 120km in length and with 2000m of climbing. It features challenging ascents and beautiful downhills from Munster and Turckheim, to the Col du Calvaire, Col du Wettstein, the descent of Col du Bonhomme, and on to Plainfaing via the Valtin, climbing the Col de la Schlucht and descending back in to Munster.
A lesser known highlight is the Route des Cretes (the 'crest road'), a beautiful route over the highest ridges, North-South, on the border with Alsace. It provides lovely views over the Rhine valley up to the Black Forest and the Alps. The whole landscape can be seen along this route: the ballons (rounded hills), the mountain peaks, the various lakes such as Lac Blanc, Lac des Truites, Lac de Longemer and the chaumes, the mountain pastures. In winter, the Route des Cretes is largely closed and accessible only to hikers, cross-country skiers and skiers.
MOUNTAIN BIKING
Marked mountain biking trails criss-cross the Vosges Mountains with routes for all levels of rider. Outside of ski season, the Vologne express chairlift at La Bresse Hohneck takes walkers and mountain bikers to the top of the mountains. It is a 9 mile (14.4km) ride from the chalet, perfect for warming the legs up!
WALKING / HIKING
The Vosges offers over 18,000km of hiking trails, providing a wide range of routes for leisurely rambling or active hiking. Discover walks over panoramic peaks, through beautiful valleys, lush forests and round magnificent lakes. It is crossed by the legendary GR5, which crosses the whole of Europe from North to South.
WINE TOURISM
The Alsace wine route invites you to discover the region and its wine producers. It winds through sloping valleys along the foothills of the Vosges for more than 170km, crossing the entire wine region from Marlenheim to Thann and meeting some 1000 producers.
Particularly beautiful towns along the route include Colmar and Kaysersberg, which are also famous for their Christmas markets.
