Travel Purpose: business
Positive: Well appointed home to spend time relaxing among nature. The kitchen was stocked with everything you would need from pans, pots, baking sheets and cooking utensils to plates, glass ware, and silverware. There were only a few coffee mugs which seemed odd but we just hand washed those after use; also the coffee maker is old school, requiring ground coffee (we are used to properties having a Keurig; we went into town to get ground coffee our first morning). Great outdoor spaces to dine or just sit and relax. Yard was good for a dog to run around and blow steam. New landscaping including fruit trees and maples. Ample off street parking. Very quiet neighborhood and surroundings. Good WiFi and cable, streaming. Comfortable sofa in living room. Nice property.
Negative: There is a steep stairwell down to washer and dryer. While there is an overhead light, adding lighting to stairwell would help with seeing defined stair edges (they don't feel to code). You will want to put a dining share across the opening like we did until you get oriented. The ad stated central A/C which was important since we visited the Idyllwild area when it was 90 degrees. You have to click into the full amenities list to see where it shows partial A/C (which we hadn't done). I would just be honest upfront and state partial A/C in the brief property description (or add A/C units to the bedrooms like was done in the living room/kitchen area). There were quite a few maintenance issues which we forwarded to Vacasa including a non-functional soaking hose and a fairly good sized run of missing grout in the guest shower where water is able to penetrate behind the "tile". We hand watered the very limp fruit and maple trees. Some of the new shrubs were on their last leg. It kills me when homeowners invest in offering a nice guest experience and Vacasa does not properly manage the property. The outdoor furniture which looks pristine in photos is ruined with water damage, dirt and grime. The owner did provide a lot of outdoor towels so we just threw those down while enjoying the deck. But why not cover the patio furniture when no one is there?
