Casita Mariposa is tucked into one of Patagonia's most charming neighborhoods, just a five-minute walk from shops, restaurants and the Tucson Audubon s Paton Center for Hummingbirds. The casita's many large windows look out onto expansive gardens planted and designed to delight the senses as well as serve as habitat for the incredible variety of birds and butterflies found here. Casita Mariposa and the main house share an interior wall, but do not have any shared interior spaces. Guests have a private entrance, private bath, and private patio. The residents of the main house, Doug and Mary Jo, are available to show guests the space and give recommendations about local resources, but otherwise allow guests to experience the serenity of the gardens undisturbed. The spacious great room holds a sitting area with a sea grass rug, comfy chairs, and floor lamps. There is wifi throughout. The kitchenette with full stove and refrigerator as well as dishes and cookware allows guests the option of preparing meals, a definite plus for longer stays. There is a vintage oak table and chairs for eating. Nestled under the bank of garden-facing windows at the front of the great room is a partially screened nook with a twin bed and plenty of pillows, perfect for sleeping or napping, reading or just watching the birds in the garden. The light-filled bedroom has a queen bed with extra-nice bedding, a closet and chest of drawers. You can watch the birds feeding and bathing in the garden while lounging in bed in the morning through the windows. A lovely way to begin the day. The roomy bathroom is decorated with Southwest flair, including a copper sink, Mexican tin and tile mirror, and slate tile in the shower/tub. The bathtub is extra-long so you can really stretch out for a soak. With our on-demand hot water heater, you'll never run out.
