The apartment is located in an old manor house overlooking the Zambra stream and an ancient olive grove. The renovation was made only to make it comfortable according to today's standards. The floors are still the original ones as are the beamed ceilings. Cooking is essential in its practicality. The whole house has been furnished with family furniture, Edra design and local and ethnic craftsmanship. Very bright and airy overlooking a stream of which you can enjoy the sound in every season (to keep in mind if you love absolute silence). In the garden / olive grove, with its typically terraced structure, you can eat, relax and play.
The village of Castelmaggiore, a hamlet where the farm is located, has remained almost intact for centuries. Under landscape protection of the superintendency of Pisa, it also boasts a fort / castle from which the toponym. Many paths that wind down from here to Monte Serra and Calci, with enchanting views of Monte Pisano and the Arno valley. A true paradise for trekking lovers.
On the road leading up to the Serra several restaurants offer typical Pisan cuisine menus. In the center of the village there is also a small grocery store for quick shopping.
Our farm is in front of the bus stop of an extra urban line (Pisa-Trecolli) with which you can reach Pisa (10 Km) in about 20 minutes and the town in 5. There is also a second extra urban line (Pisa-Montemagno) which starts from Calci. The village can be reached on foot in 15 minutes. This makes it possible to stay in the countryside even for those who do not own a car and prefer public transport.
In Calci, famous for the cultivation of the olive tree and for its mills, you can visit the Charterhouse inside which the Natural History Museum is housed.
Calci has a strategic position to visit most of Tuscany. In fact, a few km away are San Giuliano Terme (8 km), Lucca (15 km) and Livorno. In less than an hour you can reach Florence. If you want to go to the beach you can choose, according to your needs and tastes, different locations between Marina di Vecchiano, Marina di Pisa, the Etruscan Coast and Versilia. About an hour and a half by car you can visit the magnificent Volterra.
