This two bedroom, two and a half bath carriage house which sleeps four is 1100 square feet of English Country charm tucked into the woods behind Hamanassett Bed and Breakfast on a seven acre Brandywine Valley estate. It is ideal for those traveling with children age 6 and up or dogs or those who just want a little more privacy. Please note when you are looking at rates we have two different rates depending on if you are booking the house with 1 bedroom and 1 bath or both bedrooms and baths. If you book and pay for one bedroom and bath the king bedroom and large bath will be available; the second bedroom and bath will be closed off. We never book to more than one party at a time. The rate for full bed and breakfast which includes breakfast at the main house and housekeeping is $350.00 per night plus 9% tax and if booked with both bedrooms and bath the rate is $450.00 per night plus tax. We do negotiate rates for longer stays (one week or more). Please inquire. First floor has a large fully stocked and equipped kitchen, right down to cloth napkins and table cloths. The dining room is furnished with a large dining table that seats 6. The living room is furnished with a sofa, two wing back chairs, and a corner unit which holds the TV with DVD player, expanded cable, and fireplace. Although not a real wood burning fireplace, it fools the most discerning eyes and offers all the ambiance and romance of a fire (with or without the heat so can be used year round) without the muss and fuss. There is also a powder room and a laundry area with full-size washer and dryer just off the kitchen. The kitchen is fully equipped with full size appliances as well as microwave oven, toaster, and dishwasher. All kitchen utensils as well as dishes, glasses, and wine glasses are provided. We live on the property so if you have a special need that we missed, just ask us. Upstairs you will find two bedrooms. The front bedroom has a queen bed with lace canopy and a private hall bath. The back bedroom has a king bed with a huge private en-suite bathroom which has a claw foot slipper tub and separate large walk in shower. Some DVD movies are provided in the carriage house. There is a user friendly front porch where you can rock away your stresses and there is also a gas barbecue and outside table and chairs. We also offer free Wifi throughout the property. Smoking is permitted outside only. The back yard is fenced so your four legged friend can enjoy the property as well. Only a quarter mile away is Darlington Walking trail where walks of four to five miles can be taken. We are also near all the major Brandywine Valley attractions such as Longwood Gardens, Winterthur, Brandywine River Museum (Wyeth museum), Nemours, Hagley Museum, and the Barnes Foundation. Ridley Creek Park is a short 10 minute drive. Philadelphia is only 35 minutes away or you can easily do a day trip to Lancaster County which is only 1 hour west of us. Wilmington, Delaware is approximately 20-25 minutes.
