Positive: The apartment had everything we needed and was close to Camps Bay so a good general location. The staff at Blue Views (South Beach hotel) were very good - friendly and helpful. Frankshoek, Cape Town V&A Waterfront excellent. Camps Bay and Clifton beaches good but busy. Helicopter tour and Horse riding on the amazing Noordhoek Beach were the highlights. Food was excellent in the many restaurants we visited (Marble, Reubens, Harry's Bar, Bovine, Paranga, The Bungalow).
Negative: The apartment is on a very busy road and you hear traffic noise throughout the day and night. For the first few days, we had a party of people in the penthouse above who were very noisy indeed. One night - or should I say 3am in the morning - there was a crowd of 7 people outside trying to get in. They had obviously forgotten their gate key and kept pressing the intercom of our apartment for us to kept them in. I refused but they kept pressing the intercom for around 6 times. They were very noisy. Fortunately they checked out on the Friday (we arrived on the Wednesday) and left all their doors and windows open and the lights on. On one occasion they left the front security gate wedged open. I did report this to South Beach staff. Another issue was that the apartment was being sold to Nox on 15th Dec (we were there from 4th to 18th) and there was building work going on prior to the sale which caused some banging noises. My wife was very upset by all of this and we were glad to get in the car and go out and about to get away from the apartment. A few things for Nox to consider: 1. Remove the awful shutters which are a pain to open and close. 2. Add better soundproofing on the front window doors to try and hide the road noise. 3. Fix the bathroom basin that takes an age to drain away. 4. Fix the awful leak around the toilet. I got the feeling that Blue Views were happy to sell the property. I had no contact from Nox at all but as I say, the staff at South Beach hotel were excellent. We even tried to move from the apartment to the hotel but it was fully booked.
Summary: We loved S.Africa and fitted in a lot although there were some issues with the apartment as above
