Welcome to Blue Heron House - our modern and cozy cabin in the woods. We have created a clean, inviting and serene space for you to relax and unwind in after exploring all the spectacular Sunshine Coast offers. This is where you can pause, restore and put your feet up with a good book and warm drink. The space offers you a retreat from the hustle and bustle of daily life, where you can appreciate calming stillness, the sounds of nature, and a slower pace. There are always a few wildlife sightings to look forward to as well!
What to expect inside the home?
A modern and spacious (2000 sq. ft.) home with 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, and a dedicated workspace (desk and chair) spread generously over two levels. Please note that there is a bedroom and bathroom on each floor.
An open-concept living and dining area with a large kitchen and all the tools needed to create home-cooked meals.
A technology-forward space with high-speed fibre internet, climate control in every room, a premium Sonos soundbar, dimmable lighting, and a 55-inch smart TV with various streaming services included.
Each bedroom has a premium mattress and topper, blackout window coverings, foam and feather pillows, and ample clothing storage space.
There are various outdoor seating areas on the front and back porches, including a swing chair.
All the modern conveniences of home include a full-sized fridge, dishwasher, microwave, toaster oven, coffee maker, oven, and high-efficiency laundry machines. On-site parking for up to 2 vehicles.

Blue Heron House is conveniently located in the quaint, rural district of Halfmoon Bay, British Columbia. Halfmoon Bay is known for its ocean-side views, community road stands, giant cedar trees, wildlife, parks, and trails. Once you’re off the gorgeous and quick ferry to Langdale, you are a 35-minute drive to this home in Halfmoon Bay. This home is situated close to many iconic parks, beaches and trails, including Sargents Ba (4-minute drive), Coopers Green (10-minute drive), Welcome Woods Wilderness Park (5-minute drive), Smugglers Cove (15-minute drive), Secret Cove (13-minute drive), Sechelt Inlet (15-minute drive), Davis Bay (15-minute drive), Egmont (50-minute drive), and Madeira Park/Francis Point (25-minute drive). In addition to hiking and walking, many of these places offer opportunities to picnic, swim, cycle, paddleboard, and bird watching.
The town of Sechelt is a 10-minute drive from this home, where you will find many amenities, restaurants, breweries, cafes, and stores. There are multiple pharmacies, grocery stores, liquor stores, a dollar store, fast food options (Starbucks, A & W, Tim Hortons, McDonald's), and other locally-owned shops. You will find a weekly farmer’s market in Sechelt on Saturdays during spring and summer. We love the foodie options in Sechelt, including El Segundo, Batch 44, Basted Baker, Strait Coffee, and Shift Kitchen. Also, nothing beats grabbing an ice cream at E.B.’s on the pier in Sechelt and going for a beach walk!
If you want to drive further, you can be in Gibsons in 40 minutes. There you will also find a variety of amenities and foodie options, including Beachcomber Coffee, Brassica, The 101 Brewhouse, Buono Osteria, Tapworks, and Friendly Thai. Gibsons has a lovely marina, excellent beaches, and the views from Soames Hill are like none other.
Rules & Items to Consider:
This property is in a quiet, small, rural residential community with active wildlife and limited waste services. Please be mindful of how you manage your waste during your stay. Also, there are likely to be water restrictions during the summer months, so please conserve where possible. The home is on a septic system, meaning only water, human waste, and light amounts of toilet paper are suitable for the drain. Please place everything else (including food waste) in each bathroom and kitchen's compost and garbage bins.
Cancellation policy: We do not give refunds due to weather or natural disasters.
All guests must abide by the rules set in the rental contract, detailed at the time of booking, including the following key items:
No pets
No smoking
The Fireplace is not available for use.
Quiet hours between 9 pm and 8 am; note: There is a noise sensor in the home
No parties or large gatherings
● Picture ID (Passport/Driver's License) may be required before check-in.
● Please do not smoke in or around the property. We have smoke detectors that alert us if a guest is smoking inside the unit.
● We use a noise monitoring device inside the unit; It does NOT record actual sounds or conversations; it simply monitors the noise level (measured in decibels). Quiet hours are from 9pm until 8am
● We have a strict no-pets policy;
● Please be considerate from a noise perspective, our neighbours are permanent residents of this community, and we want to keep everyone in harmony.
● Sorry—Parties are not allowed. We encourage you to enjoy our space but not at the expense of your neighbours, our lower unit tenant, or the unit itself.
● Sorry, the fireplace cannot be used during your stay.
● Our home is on a septic system, meaning:
-only water, human waste, and light amounts of toilet paper are suitable for the drain.
-Please place everything else (including food waste) in each bathroom and kitchen's compost and garbage bins.
-Do NOT put the following down the drain: flushable wipes, grease, coffee grounds, paper towels, feminine hygiene products, condoms, facial tissue, sanitary wipes, hair, disposable diapers. If this is not followed, a fine will be assessed commensurate with the damage created.
● The maximum number of guests allowed to stay overnight in this property is 4. Over-occupancy will not be tolerated and may result in immediate forfeiture of your booking.
● We hope that you enjoy our gourmet kitchen. Please be aware that leaving food outside will attract pests (deer, bears, etc.) in our rural community, seriously undermining your and your neighbours' safety.
● Your Host has prepared all appliances and amenities for your responsible use (microwave, television,
washer & dryer, etc.). If any appliance malfunctions, please report it to your Host, and we
will correct the error as soon as possible.
● Please also report any damage to items such as linens and towels. If items are found to be
damaged and go unreported, you will be held responsible.
● Check-out time is 11 am and we must confirm your check-out. Guests must depart on the day when their booking ends without exception.
● Guests(s) shall return the Premises to the Host in as good condition and order as it was at the
beginning of the booking.
