We do not discriminate for ANY reason. Private & quiet, located at 3800 ft in a cove surrounded by hundreds of acres of conservancy land and the Pisgah National Forest. It's cool here when it's roasting in the Piedmont. Appalachian Trail and Blue Ridge Parkway nearby, trout fishing, beautiful views. Nearby rafting that's suitable for even little kids (or my 86 year old dad). Tastefully appointed with a queen bed, La-Z-Boy pullout w/ deluxe air mattress in the living room. There is a majestic view of the mountains. We have apple trees, blueberries, a pond, three Nigerian Dwarf goats, and two creeks. Listen to song birds & owls, look for wild turkey and deer, pet the goats, feed the ducks, sit by a creek & read, etc. The road to the Guesthouse is paved and the house is fully equipped and well appointed, all the way down to the corkscrew and Starbucks coffee. High-speed WiFi internet. HDTV with Roku streaming, a DVD player and an eclectic movie collection. Pets are allowed off leash to run around. I find lots of tennis balls in the creek! Road cycling for the serious bicyclist, from a challenging trip to the top of the Roan to a relatively flat ride along the river. (I'm an avid bicyclist, all are welcome). The Appalachian Trail at Carver's Gap and the Blue Ridge Parkway are 20 miles away. If you're too tired to hike, it's a beautiful drive. This area is known for its artists and Penland School of Craft, the oldest craft school in the country. There are hundreds of artists studios in the area. Bakersville, which is tiny, has two world class galleries, some other small galleries, a traditional goat cheese making operation, and a few restaurants. In nearby towns Spruce Pine and Burnsville, there are more galleries and various restaurants most of which are detailed in our welcome book. When you arrive, I make it a point to come up and say 'hello' and tell you all about tasty and delicious things about BirdTown and the area...then I leave you to your privacy. I'm always available in person or electronically; my house is in the front of BirdTown, out of view. You need a car..or a bicycle.
