2 Bedroom Cabin in Bryson City

Location: Bella Vista is located in a gated community, just off Highway 28 which gives this cabin easy access to all of the most popular attractions of the western North Carolina smoky mountains. Along Hwy28 you will pass the Almond Boat Dock on Fontana Lake where you can rent a pontoon boat to try your skill at fishing or just motor around exploring this scenic lake. Another popular public lake access spot for swimming, kayaking, paddle boarding and canoeing is also just around the corner. If you?re eager to explore trails through the smoky mountains atop a seat with two pedal driven wheels; then you will want to visit The Mountain Biking Mecca of the eastern United States, Tsali Recreation Center. It is only about 10 minutes further down Hwy28 from this cabin. For the adventurously spirited, White water rafting on the Nantahala River is about a 15 minute trip away. Don?t feel like cooking dinner or just want to search for a one of a kind souvenir; shops, restaurants, and train tours are about 25 minutes away in Bryson City. The popular Deep Creek section of the Great Smoky Mountain National Park is also accessed in Bryson City. The main entrance to the GSMNP and the mountain farm museum is just past the cultural center of the Eastern Band of the Cherokee Indians, about a 35 minute trip up highway 74 from the cabin. Cherokee is also a great place to visit for shops and restaurants. The paved road to Bella Vista, through this gated community, winds around and up the mountain terrain which can be moderately steep in spots but easily traversed by most all vehicle types. Along this road you will pass other beautiful custom built log cabins tucked amongst the trees and a few small waterfalls cascading next to the road. As tempting as a quick picture might be, please keep in mind that this road is a two way one lane road, though lightly traveled you could be blocking another vehicle trying to pass in the other direction. Multiple pullouts (wider spots to pull over, but not park) are located along the road as the terrain permits to allow vehicles ample room to pass by one another. As this windy road meets the driveway it leads you up and turns to reveal a secluded clearing in the trees where Bella Vista sits on the end of a smoky mountain ridge top. This ridge top location opens the forest to the front and back of the cabin revealing two stunningly beautiful long rang mountain top views. The front of the cabin face north where the mountains of the Great Smoky Mountain National Park fill the horizon and Fontana Lake sparkles in the valley below. The back of the cabin faces south where the Nantahala National Forest shapes the horizon. The seclusion created by the dense forest surrounding the cabin in the spring and summer, falls away in winter to merge the two views into an almost 270 degree scenic mountain views. Even without the leaves of summer this cabin remains quietly secluded atop its ridge top perch. A few other log cabins are visible on other mountain sides and tops. Access road: Cars and Most All vehicles- Paved and hard packed gravel sections on a well maintained mountain road, Switchbacks and moderate to steep incline sections possible, no washed out section. Exterior: When you make the turn up the driveway Bella Vista becomes visible atop the ridge ahead and as soon as you crest over on to the parking area, the view will capture and hold your gaze, just don?t forget to brake! The paved driveway leads past the side of the cabin and ends around the back of the cabin at a gravel parking area. This cabin is a three level custom built log cabin with a large 360 degree wrap around deck on the main level, concrete patio surrounding the lower level and a stone chimney reaching up through a metal roof supported by large timber beams. The whole lower level wrap around concrete patio is covered by the deck above creating a cool shady spot to hide from the noon sun. The stairs on the side of the cabin lead up to the entry level and front door. Just past the stairs next to the drive way sits the hot tub. At first, this location may seem out of place but when you step into its warm messaging water and look to find the perfect seat, you?ll realize that this location offers every seat an excellent angle to watch both views from. What could be more relaxing to sore muscles after a long day of adventuring around the smoky mountains, than sitting in a hot tub and watching the sunset over scenic mountain views? To the right of the hot tub and across the front of the cabin on the patio are chairs to sit in the cool shade provided by the cover of the deck above. To create a flat pad for securely building the cabin atop the ridge top was excavated back. This also created a flat front yard, a rare amenity in mountain top homes. This flat yard is a favorite grazing spot of local deer and smaller wild life; though you may never catch them in their stealthy foraging; they frequently leave tracks behind confirming their presence. Near the end of the yard is a large circular stone fire pit. Spending an evening seated around the warm glow of a camp fire is a calming and relaxing experience anywhere. When you add a scenic mountain view, star filled sky and cool fresh mountain air the experience could be the vacation memory that last through the years! When you reach the top of the stairs you will appreciate an even better view of the mountains to the back and front of the cabin. The deck wraps all the way around the log cabin and has many seating options. At the top of the stairs is a gate that matches the railing of the deck. This gate and one on the opposite side of the cabin allow you to close off the exit points of the deck so your four legged companion can spend time in the fresh air with you. To the left of the main entrance door is the wider front deck. This deck overlooks the grass yard and faces north toward a scenic view of the GSMNP and Fontana Lake. The drive way up to the cabin is also visible below. The north facing nature of this section of deck keeps it shaded from the sun most of the afternoon. A large outdoor sectional sofa and chairs in this shade make a comfortable spot to relax in the afternoon and watch the clouds drift across the smoky mountain view. Just past the sectional is a large dining table that can seat up to six guests. The beautiful view, fresh mountain air, and quiet mountain top seclusion make dining out side at this table a far better experience than any crowded park picnic. All this peaceful atmosphere cannot make up for an over cooked stake or burnt burgers. So make sure you don?t get lost watching the view and forget about diner on the gas grill. The grill is located on the mountain side of the deck. A gate to a trail that leads past the back of the cabin is on this side as well. Past the gas grill is the back or southern side of the deck. This section of deck is also accessible from the right of the entry door. A log style table that seats four is just past the grill to offer another option to dine out to a different view. This side of the deck faces south towards the Nantahala National Forest. A few log style rocking chairs are positioned for watching the sunset over the mountains. ENTRY LEVEL When you step through the front door it is immediately apparent that you are entering a relaxing and comfortable atmosphere. As the peaceful natural colors and textures of the mountain setting outside are echoed throughout the interior; in the large red cedar and Douglas fir timber beams, real wood paneled walls and ceilings, and accent colors painted by large picture windows displaying the scenic NC mountain views. To the right of the front door is the kitchen and dining table, to the left is the large vaulted ceiling open living room and straight ahead is a set of stairs that lead down to the lower level. This kitchen has all the appliances and utensils you would expect in your own home. Including a large island with a smooth cook top and additional seating. However, this kitchen does have one feature you most likely don?t have in your kitchen; an incredibly scenic view of the smoky mountains through a window that spans most of the kitchen?s width. With a view like this to stand in front of, you may opt to hand wash the dishes instead of using the dishwasher under the granite counter. The dining area has views of the Nantahala Mountains through a sliding glass doors and two picture windows across the side wall. Dinner at this table for 8 can often be upstaged by the sun setting over the mountains outside creating a view that few restaurants can match. Past the kitchen is a small hallway that turns sharply right. The end of this hallway is a half bath room. The living room to the left is filled with a view of the Great Smoky Mountain National Park through three large sliding glass doors and picture windows that reach to the height of the vaulted ceiling. Two comfortable leather sofas are positioned in front of a large stone gas log fireplace. Above the mantel is a large flat screen TV. Though this TV has HD satellite service with many channels to choose from, you will probably spend more time gazing out at the large beautiful mountain view than watching another episode of the same show again. At the back of the living room a set of log style stairs lead up to the loft. A glass door at near the bottom of the stairs open out to the deck. Upper level / loft: At the top of the stairs from the living room is the loft or upper level. The vaulted ceiling of the living room forms the shapes of the loft. To the right is the open area of the loft where there is a queen size bed and futon. Guest that sleep in this bed get to wake to a view of the mountains through the living room window wall. This room has a small balcony where you can step outside to take-in some fresh air or just to admire either of the two visible views. To the right of the stairs is a private bedroom. This room has a king size bed with a satellite TV mounted on the opposite wall and also has a balcony that over hangs the back deck. This can be a great spot to find some quiet time and watch either of the views in peace. A full bath separates both of these rooms. Lower Level: The real wood paneled walls and ceiling of the upper level are continued throughout the whole lower level. At the right of the bottom of the stairs is a door to access the yard . As you turn left to enter the family room a foosball table stand in the middle of the room. A wall of picture windows to the right fills the family room with scenic views of the smoky mountains. Just past the foosball table, a sofa and recliner offer a relaxing spot to enjoy the gas log fireplace. A video game console is connected to the TV located on the mantel above the fireplace. So you don?t have to run back up to the kitchen to grab another beverage; a mini fridge is under the wet bar. Next to the fireplace a set of French doors open into the master suite. The fireplace of the family room passes through to the foot of the king size bed in the master bedroom. A satellite TV is located above the fireplace.
