The cottage is located on a beautiful private road and the neighborhood is quiet and wonderful for walks and bike riding. Birchcroft was built in 1902. The location and property are one of the best on the lake and the cottage sits on a breathtaking 2.9 acres with 263' of frontage on the east shore of North Lake Leelanau. This is a classic craftsman cottage with 98 hand made leaded glass windows, cedar shakes, stone porches, courtyard with stone wall, planters, bench and rock garden. This beautifully preserved cottage features 9 bedrooms, 3.5 bathrooms, original pedestal sinks in several of the bedrooms, hardwood floors, flowing living areas, antique light fixtures, wood burning fireplace, loads of natural light, 2 lakeside porches, sand beach and dock. Kayaks and paddle boards will be there for your use. Birchcroft is 6 miles from the charming Village of Leland which offers ferry service to North and South Manitou Islands. Also includes "Historic Fishtown", home of the fifth generation Carlson Fishery, famous for whitefish, both freshly caught and smoked. There are numerous quaint towns in the county like Glen Arbor, Omena and Northport that offer great restaurants and shopping. It is just a short drive to the Sleeping Bear National Lake Shore Park which boasts beautiful and secluded Lake Michigan beaches, the famous sand dunes, Pierce Stocking Drive which offers jaw dropping views of Lake Michigan and North and South Manitou Islands plus an extensive trail system for walking and biking. The area has a booming wine industry and people enjoy touring the numerous wineries and tasting rooms.
