It is with a deep, aching sadness that we must share with you that our beloved little Pink Peacock Lane Cottage succumbed to the wrath of Milton on October 9.
Hurricanes Ian and Idalia took big bites out of our dear cottage yet we fixed her up each time.
Unfortunately, Hurricane Debby arrived August 5 and she took a violent swing at our cottage but like before, we put her back together again.
Roaring in on September 26 Helene made landfall. We were not sure our cottage would make it as she was barely standing on September 27.
Her little bones could barely hold her up but we were cautiously optimistic as she had survived for over 50 years when we got word of Milton barreling towards us.
Sadly, on October 9, Milton took her away and she is no longer standing. I know she held on as long as she could only for the wrath of Milton to take her down without a trace.
Besides losing our dear cottage, (One of the Loves of our lives), we will so miss our wonderful neighbors, friends and guests who visited our cottage as well as so many others who we got to know.
We so enjoyed sharing our cottage with so many of you over the 10+ years of ownership and to those we met over the 29 years of coming to Little Gasparilla Island as guests ourselves.
We want to offer a sincere 'Thank You' to those who visited our cottage and for those who wanted to, that our little cottage gave you happy beach memories (as it did for us).
We are grateful you made precious memories on the magical Little Gasparilla Island and will visit again.......

We welcome you to Peacock Lane Cottage, a cottage only steps from the Gulf waters!
Come visit this magical piece of paradise located on a bridge-less, barrier Island accessible only by boat on the Southwest Gulf coast of Florida.
If you have never visited before, you are in for an amazing experience and a memory making vacation on Little Gasparilla Island.
Peacock Lane Cottage is a Gulf-front cottage on the beach! It only takes a few seconds to dip your toes in the turquoise Gulf waters!
Park at Eldred's Marina on the Boca Grande Causeway, then take the 15 minute scenic Water Taxi to Island or bring your own boat where we offer you deep water dockage.
The Water Taxi is 30.00 each way for up to 2 guests, (no fee for pups) and 20.00 for each additional guest in your party. "Cash only".
8:30 - 5:00 daily.
The Water Taxi runs 24/7 but a surcharge will be applied for earlier or later trips so it is best to plan your arrival and departure times around the day-rate time frame.
Take a few steps out the front door and you have 7 miles of an almost totally secluded, unspoiled beach to experience. Collect shells, fossilized sharks teeth, fish or do nothing at all!
Leave all your cares behind! You can't help but to decompress and relax on LGI.
There are no stores or cars on Little Gasparilla Island, only sandy paths that you can explore by foot or golf cart. (Golf cart is not necessary but there are rental options available and will be happy to give you reservation information)
We have a small artist's gift shop who is an Island artist resident, just a 5 minute walk from cottage.
Enjoy beautiful views of the Gulf of Mexico and incredible sunsets from the front and rear decks of this tastefully furnished charming Key West style cottage.
Enjoy the peaceful setting and private back deck surrounded by many coconut palms which offer a cool breeze and shade. Fall asleep each night to the sound of the surf. The best part about this cottage is that it's not only a romantic place but the perfect family getaway too.
There is a Weber Charcoal grill for your BBQ's. Bring your briquettes for a tasty beach dinner.
Pack VERY light as the cottage has a new extra large washer/dryer.
Bring your food and goodies with you or take advantage of our excellent grocery delivery service with Evan. He will pick up your online order and bring your groceries right to the cottage. He puts all perishables away so no worries!
If you'd like to check out some off-Island activities, you are only a 10-15 minute ride via Water Taxi to the marina.
Boca Grande is a lovely village on the very next Island (Gasparilla Island). Rent a golf cart and explore this beautiful Island. Upscale shops, restaurants, beautiful beaches, Lighthouse museum, a State Park and more. A fun day trip.
Our Island drinking water is excellent so there is no need to bring bottled water.
If you'd like to bring your own boat or rent a boat, we have a deep water dock that is shared by the few cottages on our lane and is only a 4 minute walk to cottage. Dock can accommodate up to 26'.
Please let us know if you will be bringing a boat so we can share our simple dock rules.
We offer a 'complimentary' Concierge/Greeter on your 'arrival day' with a young Island man who will meet you at the dock. Bret will bring you, your luggage and groceries to the cottage. (Additional details upon booking)
Many cottage owners do not offer free trash pick up but we don't want you to worry about lugging a weeks worth of trash back to the mainland so have a scheduled Friday AM pick ups.
Get a world class tan, collect shells and sharks teeth on one of the best shelling beaches around (Especially after a storm).
Make the best sand castles ever, sit on the porch swing and hold your lover's hand, explore, eat, drink, laugh, read, nap, swim, run, or have a treasure hunt!
'There is a lot to do on this Island that has nothing to do!'
And for the fishermen out there, we are the epicenter of the state's best inshore and offshore fishing; tarpon, snook, redfish, shark, grouper and snapper just to name a few.
Great fishing from the dock or right on the Gulf!
Bring your fishing poles and gear and fire up the BBQ grill!
We welcome 1 well behaved pup (Service pups and family pups) with a non-refundable $100 pet fee. We are quite flexible on size/weight so please inquire. (We do NOT permit 'any' aggressive breeds)
We will send you our simple Pet Etiquette guidelines upon booking.
Sadly, due to some past pup owners not respecting our cottage and the Island pup policy, we ask you to sign an acknowledgment indicating you will follow our simple guidelines as we want every pup and owner to have a great beach vacation.
If you are a smoker, our property will not be the right fit for you as this is a 100% Non-Smoking property both inside and out.
Should you like to reserve a week with us, please be sure to put dates you would like to visit "on the inquiry" otherwise VRBO may indicate the week is unavailable.
We can always change your dates at a later time (if week is available) but we do not want you to receive an email from VRBO indicating a week is blocked when it is actually available.
Our wonderful turnover crew is available on short notice so we now offer last minute bookings with just a ONE day notice. Pack VERY light and come on down!
With a last minute booking, (Within 6 days prior to your arrival date) we can offer a 4 night minimum otherwise our weeks run Saturday - Saturday and have a 7 night minimum.
Cottage sleeps a 'maximum' of 4, sorry no exceptions.

Peacock Lane Cottage is perfect for 1 - 4 guests.
Once you have made your reservation, we will email our rental agreement to your personal email address. This will have all the particulars of the cottage: Cottage address, our names and address, what our responsibilities are as owners, VRBO payment due dates, etc.
We welcome everyone to Peacock Lane Cottage but our cottage is not handicap accessible as there are deep, soft, sandy paths and motorized scooters or wheel chairs are unable to move about. We apologize for any inconvenience, however, we can offer alternate suggestions for nearby beach locations which may be better suited for your personal needs.
We will email our 'Welcome Letter' to you several weeks prior to your visit. This will have answers to most all your questions and include information to make your Water Taxi reservations, parking, etc.
*A golf cart is not necessary for your Island beach vacation however we now have 2 homeowners who are renting well maintained carts and will be happy to give you additional information.
The minimum age of the Primary renter at Peacock Lane Cottage is 30, sorry, no exceptions.
We offer one of the most lenient cancelation policies VRBO allows, however, in the unlikely event you need to cancel your reservation and it falls within the non-refundable period, we recommend you purchase trip insurance which is offered by VRBO.
