Positive: We loved our 2 night stay at Banksia. The accomodation is in a private corner of a charming 1930’s home attached to a historic bank building that is now an art gallery. The art gallery has spilled over into Banksia. The walls are a canvas for beautiful native flora murals and hanging for colourful native fauna paintings. A delight to live with. The art gallery is centrally located in the main street of Mount Barker on the cafe and shopping strip. Banksia is tucked around the corner in the side street so it is private and quiet. There is free public parking outside but limited to 1 hour standing during business hours, 8.30am to 5pm. The rooms were clean, tidy and comfortable with everything you need for a short stay. Our host Sobrane was contactable and responsive. We would definitely stay again.
Negative: If you are staying for more than one night, be aware that there is little hanging space for clothes. Despite the efforts of our host the wifi was down during our stay. The TV relies on the internet so “double wammy”.
