Avaleigh Elms is a simple, cosy, country farm stay cottage with two bedrooms (1 queen and 2 singles) supplied with quality linen. It’s perfect for a weekend getaway. Meet the resident feature creatures, namely the donkeys, horses, sheep, hens and alpacas on our farm, which is in the middle of picturesque, prime grazing country. Guests are welcome to explore our property, taking in the great views from the high points. Just 20 minutes from the wonderful Mayfield Garden, with its Water Garden, now open all year. Don't miss the enchanting Gairloch Garden in Oberon, which is open twice a year, mid spring and autumn. Visit the world famous Jenolan Caves or the quieter Wombeyan or Abercrombie Caves, adjacent to the Blue Mountains World Heritage Area. Go mountain bike riding, fossicking, mushrooming and blackberry picking (seasonal), in the Vulcan State Forest which is on our boundary. Nearby, you can go horse riding or fish for trout and yellow belly in Lake Oberon. Some great bush walks are on offer too in the magnificent Kanangra Boyd National Park or at Evans Crown Nature Reserve. There are also some lovely walks around Oberon where dogs are permitted. Our countryside has gentle undulations, perfect for walking out to discover many species of parrots and birds inhabiting the large stands of eucalypts. Nearby village pubs offer hearty country food and a warm welcome. Avaleigh Elms is two hours drive to the wine and food regions of Orange and Mudgee, 11/2 hours to the town of Goulburn and 2 ½ hours to Canberra on the Tablelands Way. The property is situated 1250 metres/4000 feet above sea level on the Tablelands Way near the historic town of Oberon. Don and Jenn are waiting to give you a warm country welcome and advise that Avaleigh Elms now welcomes well behaved pets. Bring your own horse! Guests are welcome to bring their own horses to ride in the adjacent State Forest. There are lots of tracks and it is almost impossible to get lost. View the wildlife from horseback in the cool pine forest. Perfect in any weather! We have secure paddocks and a big yard on water for visiting horses.
