Be our guest in an award-winning (Irish Architects, Best Cottage Design, 1991) traditional Irish cottage high atop the Cliffs of Moher, overlooking Galway Bay, the Aran Islands and the Atlantic Ocean. The original structure was a flagstone house built in the early 1800’s and abandoned as a dwelling in the 1850’s during the famine. From there it fell into ruin until the current cottage was built in 1991 using the stones from the original building.
The cottage is beautifully decorated with Irish antiques and all the modern amenities (with the exception of a television) to make for an enjoyable, relaxing stay. Curl up in front of one of two turf (peat) burning fires with one of the many books on Irish history, art, culture and literature. Or explore the rural, west coast region of Ireland along the Wild Atlantic Way with its many cliffs, beaches, farms, forests, caves and ruins to experience. The owners leave nothing to chance and provide their guests with extras such as boots, wax jackets, wool sweaters, backpacks, binoculars, riding hats so that every activity is within reach. Hiking, beach combing, cycling, horseback riding, spelunking, bird watching, fishing and golfing are just some of many activities to choose among.
At the end of the day, Doolin Pubs await the tired with lively music, good food and a pint or two.
