Nestled in three acres of Aspen forest, our new custom mountain getaway is a perfect home base for exploring the Rockies. This is where modern convenience meets rustic charm. Each of the three bedrooms has it's own bathroom. sleeping six people comfortably. You can use wireless Internet to stay connected; or pretend it's not there and enjoy the solitude.
Located in the heart of the South Park National Heritage area, you’ll be close to the natural, historical and cultural wonders of the Rockies. During the summer, amazing hiking trails and fishing are nearby, as well as four-wheel drive trails for off-roading. Even if you just have a two-wheel drive car you have plenty of options.
For example, you can take a trip through the historic 18th Century railroad town of Como on your way to Boreas Pass, taking in the breathtaking views above tree line before descending into the historic mountain resort town of Breckenridge. Eat, drink and shop to your heart’s content before returning over Hoosier Pass and through the quaint historic towns of Alma and Fairplay before heading home.
When you're home, you'll feel like you're truly in an Aspen Tree House, especially on our huge wrap-around deck .... a great place for entertaining! Or snuggle in front of a roaring fire with a good book. (But don't forget to look up once in a while to take in the view of the continental divide!)
Cook up a gourmet dinner on our Blue Star gas range, or nuke a snack in the microwave. And help yourself to the spices and condiments. The kitchen is fully equipped with pots, pans, dishes, silverware ... all the things you need to make preparation and eating quite civilized. (The dishwasher makes cleanup easy.)
You can pass the time the old-fashioned way playing cards or one of our many traditional board games. Or you can watch a 3-D Blue-ray movie or catch a Netflix movie on our 60” flat-screen TV in the media room.
If it’s a clear night, be sure to go outside and check out the stars. They’re simply amazing at 10,000 feet above sea level! When you're ready to turn in, snuggle into one of our comfy beds (We have two king-sized beds, a trundle bed that can be configured as two twins or a king, and a queen-sized sleeper sofa.) Then wake up to another glorious morning at the Aspen Tree House.
Throughout the year, you won't see many people on Michigan Hill, but those you do meet are quite friendly. Most of the full-time residents are the deer, elk, rabbits, squirrels, chipmunks, birds, coyotes, etc. And they pretty much keep to themselves!
The Aspen Treehouse is just a 90 minute drive from downtown Denver along scenic highway 285. Once you're there you can get around by vehicle, foot or mountain bike.
This is a very special place to us, and we take great pleasure in sharing it with others. We expect our guests to respect the care and love we have put into our mountain home.
