Located only five minutes away from the town of Buena Vista, and situated in natural high-desert vegetation, the home is set back off a county road and is partially bordered by BLM (Bureau of Land Management) land, railroad-owned land and the river; it’s safe, comfortable and private but not remote; the house sits on a 1.25-acre property located on a quiet rural county road 1.5 miles from town. There are mountain views everywhere and the house is beautifully furnished, elegant yet simple and cozy. If you decide to stay home and cook, the kitchen is fully furnished with everything you need to prepare meals from simple to gourmet; there is also a gas grill on the deck. Only the sounds of nature and flowing water can be heard as you relax either outside on the back deck or inside the house. Sit in the hot tub on the private back deck, gaze at the river and mountain views and forget the stress and anxiety of the rest of the world! Enjoy the sights and sounds of the river flowing past this modern, super clean two-bedroom home that sleeps up to six. The master bedroom has a queen bed, vanity sink with mirror and a private door to the deck and hot tub. The second bedroom also has a queen bed. The tiled bathroom has a lovely walk-in shower and towels are provided for indoor and outdoor use. The living area, dining room and kitchen have an open design with views and river sounds all around you. Separate from the main house, BUT ONLY RENTED IN CONJUNCTION WITH IT, is a one-bedroom studio casita which has a queen bed, lovely porch with stunning mountain views and private detached bathroom. THIS ACCOMMODATES TWO AND RENTS FOR AN ADDITIONAL $75/night + $35 cleaning fee. The sights and sounds of the river are immediately there for you to enjoy. The Arkansas River is accessed by a short private path leading from the back deck of the main house to the river’s edge; no one but you has river access or fishing privileges here. Throw rocks in the water, sit and watch it flow past as you relax or fish for the trout that lurk underwater. WE REQUEST THAT YOU ONLY DO CATCH AND RELEASE IN OUR PART OF THE RIVER. The sky is incredibly blue; wildlife, birds and in summer flowers are everywhere. Because the house is right on the river, you will see deer and other critters daily. Many birds like osprey and kingfishers not seen in other areas, fly by in their search for food along the river. In the summer you can watch rafters and kayakers speed past the house challenging the rapids in front of it. In winter beautiful ice crystals start to form along the water’s edge as peace and quiet settle in. At night, sit in the hot tub and you will not soon forget the sight of the moon rising over the river and rock formations or the vast number of stars visible at night. You can see the Milky Way and an amazing array of magic in the sky that you can't see from brightly-lit cities. This is a true refuge! There is a Smart TV in the house for direct streaming and good wifi connectivity but no regular TV stations which means no stressful news to watch! If you do decide to venture out, the quaint town of Buena Vista is close by and has many unique shops, cafes, galleries and services. A variety of interesting stores, restaurants, brew pubs, bars, and a whisky distillery/bar are there as well as bakeries, ice cream and coffee shops (the Roastery is the best coffee shop in the county). Practical needs can be met close by in grocery and hardware stores. BV features a natural river park which includes the Barbara Whipple Trail for hiking and biking; trails lead from there into the National Forest and seem endless for adventure. There are two world-class hot springs resort/spas close by and varied activities in surrounding towns. Bring your own "toys" or rent equipment such as mountain bikes, horses, kayaks, rafts or paddle boards in town. Tours, trips and lessons are available from various outfitters in Buena Vista, Leadville and Salida for any activity you want to try. No matter the season, Arkansas River Casitas is a very unique, peaceful and romantic property; the house is a gem on the river.
