Ancient Renovated Hay-Barn in the Foothills of the Sibillini Mountains | House in Amandola

1 Bedroom House in Amandola
This architect-designed hay barn is a quiet place, similar to a retreat – and visitors frequently comment it has the atmosphere of a place time has forgotten. Surrounded by verdant foliage, this eco hay-barn faces onto some of the most inspiring mountain views in Central Italy, if not Italy as a whole.
The location suits people who are interested in culture and nature, peace, health and hiking. The large and private grounds of the hay-barn face directly onto the mountains as do the wall-length windows showing the full panorama of the Sibillini massif, surrounded by forests, small fields, our truffle orchard, and a traditional mosaic landscape, where laneways and gravel roads lead to beautiful walks in many directions.
A famous pilgrimage route for S. Francis of Assisi passes near the hay-barn, and the Monti Sibillini National Park is but a few minutes' drive away, where outstanding hiking abounds in a renaturalized landscape (compass and map occasionally required). The nearest building is an ancient hermitage only partially frequented.
No chemicals of any sort are used outside/nor inside and the hay-barn relies on solar panels and underfloor heating powered by wood, sustainably sourced from the park. As such there are great opportunities for enjoying biodiversity, foraging, and also heritage foods.
The area around the hay barn is celebrated for its 'nature and culture', dotted with historic hill towns and many excellent countryside dining opportunities and local produce. Gourmands will be well satisfied, though people wanting shopping and nightlife will be disappointed. Instead, the grounds are awash with fireflies in June (a sign of a healthy environment) and outstanding star gazing with dark skies - occasionally one can see the Milky Way with one's bare eyes. Those searching for tranquillity and revitalization, find the hay-barn extremely rewarding.
There is also a piano and sauna (which has a modest charge for electricity use). The hosts live on the land in another house and we will not cross paths - unless you wish. We are happy to greet you and offer extra information regarding your interests and the area. Guests have their own expansive garden with various outdoor tables and grounds facing the mountains, which are not overlooked and are entirely private, as well as their own entrance and own parking.
