ABOUT THE PROPERTY Anagama Denmark was designed and built by ceramic artist Jonathan Hook in the 1980s and 1990s, incorporating traditional Japanese farmhouse style and the use of local timbers as highlights throughout the house. The property offers two accommodation options, which are listed separately but can be hired together pending availability: • Anagama Denmark - The House (Property #200809): The main house on the property, which sleeps up to six (6) people. • Anagama Denmark - The Studio (Property #202289): A stylish 135 square metre, self-contained studio space, which sleeps up to two (2) adults. A small child can also be accommodated if required. This listing is for The House. The property offers a tranquil country-style stay, situated just outside of town on an 11 hectare farm with Jarrah / Karri forest near the crest of a north facing hill and valley which is protected from cold southerly winds. Anagama has stunning, ever-changing views across the Scotsdale and Denmark River valleys to Mt Lindsay, is located just minutes by car from Denmark town centre - also within walking distance - and is situated close to the well-known wineries and restaurants of the Scotsdale Valley and Scotsdale Tourist Drive. Anagama Denmark offers the perfect escape for couples or families seeking quiet solace and rejuvenation, or as the perfect base to explore Denmark's coastal beaches and hinterland, Albany, and the Stirling and Porongorup Ranges. The property derives its name from the large Japanese/Korean style wood fired pottery kiln situated adjacent to house, which was built by Jonathan Hook and used for pottery production in the early 1980s. The kiln is no longer in use, but is still a fascinating insight into the artistic process and science involved with ceramics. Pottery wares from this style of kiln are highly prized around the world. _________________________ IMPORTANT Please be aware that this is a duplex property, and both listings may be rented to different guests at the same time. The House and The Studio are connected by a common wall and share some communal outdoor spaces, but are configured to allow total privacy and exclusion from one another. _________________________ THE HOUSE - FEATURES LIST BEDROOM ONE (Downstairs) – One (1) x Queen Bed Spacious carpeted room, situated opposite the bathroom. Japanese aesthetic featuring jarrah timber beams and ceiling, with picture style window looking out to gardens and karri forest. BEDROOM TWO (Upstairs) – One (1) x Queen Bed Spacious carpeted room, with views over the tree tops and garden below. Large windows and feature timber beams. Note: Bathroom access is downstairs. BEDROOM THREE (Upstairs) – Two (2) x Single Beds Large carpeted room, with feature timber beams and ceiling. BATHROOM/TOILET The House has one (1) bathroom and one (1) toilet, which are separate. The bathroom is north-facing, with large windows and a separate shower and bath. The toilet is separate to bathroom and located slightly down the hallway. KITCHEN/DINING The kitchen, dining and living areas are located on the lower, north facing, level of the house. The House features a fully equipped kitchen with gas stove top, electric oven, exhaust fan, microwave, fridge/freezer and dishwasher. The dining area seats eight people, by a large corner window overlooking tropical gardens. Large windows and glass/steel doors open from the dining area onto a spacious, covered verandah that overlooks the valley and Mt Lindsay in the distance, some eight kilometres away. LIVING ROOM The living room has a three and two seater lounge, a 55-inch smart TV with quality stereo connected to TV via headphone jack, which can also be connected to any mobile device with similar output port. SUNROOM On the same level as Bedroom One is a spacious, west-facing sun room/study, which is a quiet and light room separated from main living area by a hallway. It has a long built-in desk against one wall, and a lounge and chairs for reading or quiet conversation. LAUNDRY Laundry has a washing machine and dryer. OTHER • All bedding, linen and bath towels are supplied. • There is Wi-Fi in the house • Primary heating is with a wood fire and quick heat with a gas heater. Both are located in the kitchen/dining/living area on the lower level. • If a group or family gathering wants to hire both The House and The Studio, privacy gates can be opened to allow access to both areas.
