The Space:
Amber Lake Studio is the studio extension of this Amber Lake home has been transformed with modern amenities into a private lakefront retreat. The owners have renovated the studio into a bright, practical and very livable open plan space.
The custom kitchen is drenched in sunlight and features vintage Japanese earthenware and Le Creuset cookware. Here you’ll find every appliance and convenience you need but scaled for perfect balance with the small and cozy studio layout. Designate a chef, while you perch on a rattan stool at the kitchen island drinking wine and telling stories.
The design-forward among us will fall in love with the Roche Bobois couch opposite the kitchen. We dare you to spin some records and relax. Then the space flows through to the queen bed framed by naturalist drawings and a punchy accent wall. The laundry room houses an air mattress and portable crib, available for guest use.
And don’t overlook the bathroom. This is arguably our favorite room in the studio, with its fern-themed wallpaper, a nod to our Catskills environs, and a custom green tiled walk-in shower with Prestige fixtures.
There is a locked door leading to the main house, which will always be vacant and off limits during each guest stay at the studio.
The grounds are restorative. This is the place you can exhale. Get your grill on right outside the kitchen, or head down the generous lawn to the fire pit and lakefront. You can catch rays on the dock or swim out to the float, or take the canoe out to explore the non-motorboat lake, from early spring through fall. There’s a charming wooden deck in the trees just next to the dock, where you can change, hang towels and find paddles and life vests. Relax in the hammock or cozy up in the hand-built, lakeside love seat that’s nestled between tall hemlocks. Perfect for wildlife viewing!
And if you need provisions or a night out, you’re just five minutes from the little mountain towns of Livingston Manor and Roscoe.
