Positive: I recently spent 3 nights at Alila Ubud and it genuinely exceeded my expectations, here’s a breakdown of what I loved, and a few things to be aware of if you’re considering a stay: Truly a place to pause & wind down: The hotel is nestled in the jungle, above the valley, the moment you arrive you feel an instant sense of calm. If you’re looking to escape the everyday pace, this is exactly where you should go. Beautiful, modern aesthetics with a nature-first feel. The design skilfully blends contemporary elements with Balinese touches. Every space feels thoughtful, well-maintained, and beautifully integrated into the jungle setting. The infinity pool is a highlight, it looks outstanding, especially when it rains and the jungle mist drifts in.

Negative: Because you are so immersed in the jungle, insects, lizards, and occasional monkeys are part of the experience. If you prefer pin-drop silence or a completely sealed, sterile environment, this might be a little outside of that expectation, but I loved all of that. While the property is relatively near the Ubud area, you will likely need to use the hotel’s shuttle or car service. If you plan to venture into mainland Ubud often, factor in the travel time.
