*WINTER NOTIFICATIONS: You must have a four-wheel drive / all-wheel drive vehicle (+/- Chains) to access the property in the event of snow or ice. Our gravel driveway is steep, curvy, and 1/4 mile long. Although we try to provide plowing in a timely manner, we can NOT guarantee it.
This secluded mountain chalet sits on 11.5 acres of pasture and rolling hills. Our home is approximately 2000 square feet with long range views from the living areas and all three bedrooms. The location of our property is magical. You are immersed in the mountains with nature all around, and yet still close to many great restaurants and outdoor activities (hiking trails and winter sports). The ski resorts (Sugar and Beech Mountain) are each approximately 20 minutes away. We are located off Highway 194 in between Valle Crucis and downtown Banner Elk. Boone is about 20 minutes away. Blowing Rock is approximately 30 minutes away.
Please note these recent booking changes: Our cleaning service is not available on weekdays, only evenings and weekends. Therefore, we are unable to accommodate a same-day turnaround Monday-Friday. Please send an inquiry (not a booking request) if you encounter this situation. We can occasionally still accommodate the request.

More House information: The house was built in 1976, and since our purchase in 2017, we have made many updates, including installation of Mini-Split HVAC units (November 2019), new ceiling in the living room, new kitchen flooring, new dishwasher, new patio furniture, etc.
The living room and master bedroom have a propane gas fireplace. All three bedrooms have their own bathroom. There is high speed internet and a Roku for the one TV located in the living room. A fire extinguisher is located at the top of the stairwell that is between the master bedroom and kitchen, behind the trash can.
Well trained, nondestructive pets are allowed, but please note our damage deposit policy related to stains on linens. The pet fee is $25 per night per pet. Please provide a description of your pet (age and breed).
Please note that the kitchen, living areas and master bedroom are on the upper floor, and stairs are required to access these areas (either outside from the deck, or the interior stairwells).

Master Bedroom: upstairs with one king bed and two twin beds
Downstairs Bedroom #1: one queen
Downstairs Bedroom #2: one queen, one twin
Please do not use loft area due to safety concerns.
