A cosy, former miner's cottage nestling in the delightful and ancient village of Bonsall, near Matlock, on the edge of the stunning Peak District. Acorn Cottage is a mid-terrace cottage lovingly restored and individually styled to offer all the comforts of modern living but still retaining the charm of this wonderful cottage, including a beautiful old oak staircase that has a 90-degree turn and a very small landing. The open plan living area boasts a cosy wood burner, ideal to relax and unwind by after a busy day exploring the local area.
The charming and traditional conservation village of Bonsall is situated in the heart of the Derbyshire Dales, on the edge of the Peak District National Park, 4 miles from Matlock. Named in the Domesday Book, with a history dating back to Roman times, this former lead mining and textile producing village is renowned for the World Hen Racing Championship's held on the first Saturday in August at the Barley Mow pub. This part of Derbyshire has a rich heritage, with nearby Cromford being home to the Arkwright Mills and Crich, playing host to a Tramway Village. Matlock Bath is just a short drive away and is the base for the cable car leading to the Heights of Abraham, a sixty-acre hilltop country park. Walkers and mountain bikers will delight in the magnificent trails that abound in this part of the Peaks, whilst watersports enthusiasts are well-served by Carsington Water, which is just 7 miles away. Roadside parking available for 2 cars, we ask if you could please park opposite the cottage on the other side of the road, not right on the cottage door step. Up to two dogs only, please bring a blanket or bed for them to sleep on as not permitted on furniture.Please be aware if your dog wishes to go to the toilet please do not leave the dog un-attended and clean away the mess. There are 24 steps and terraced areas in the garden. The stairs are open on one side with handrail on other side. Initial fuel for woodburner included, thereafter available locally at cost.
