ATTENTION FISHERMAN and water lovers. We have recently purchased 8.5 acres on the Doe River (with over 1,000 feet of river frontage) on PRIVATE land for our guests. It is directly against another 4,000+ feet of Wildlife Preserve River Frontage that is difficult to access in most places without accessing our land. This is the Trout Fisherman's little paradise. It is under one mile drive from the Cabins which are set on 6.47 acres backing up to Cherokee National Forest, this 3 bedroom 2 bath manufactured home is spacious, with WiFi, cell service, & Satellite TV in 3 rooms. High quality mattresses, top grain leather sofa with queen mem. foam pull-out in living rm. 2 Full Futons and a tv in large back room behind glass doors. Giant tub in Master Bath. Dine by the Fireplace. Kitchen is stocked with utensils, storage containers, cookware, small and large appliances. Rock Formations & Springs on the property! PLEASE READ: ALLERGEN REDUCTION ZONE: Here, we will remain FREE of PESTICIDES and HERBICIDES on the ENTIRE property, both inside and outside. You will see nature as it truly grows except in mowed and highly trafficked areas. Our cleaning supplies, soaps, laundry detergents and more are more natural brands like Seventh Generation. The cabin is NO-Smoking indoors and indoor PET-FREE so people with ALLERGIES or other health problems can come and enjoy their time, just you, nature and all of the basic things you need. Our beds and pillows have allergen reducing dust mite / bed bug covers to avoid your worst nightmare. But, lady bugs, certain beetles, and other insects have seasonal influxes. By not spraying, you will see these, but you will also see the butterflies and fireflies in their season, because of this. The King-sized bed is Medium Firmness Memory Foam with a Soft Plush Mattress Pad to make a PLUSH comfortable bed or to be removed for those who enjoy a little firmness. The Queen bed is PLUSH Memory Foam. The Full sized mattress is a Pillow-Top, and above it is a Twin Bunk. The Pull-out Sofa Bed is a shockingly comfortable Queen sized memory foam bed. There are dressers in the Master, walk-in closets in all 3 bedrooms, and everyone gets a big Hotel Towel and many smaller bath towels and washcloths for your use. There is a Large Tub in The Master Bathroom. In the Large Back room, closed behind two glass doors are two full-sized Memory foam Futons. They are only big enough for one adult each, in my opinion, which makes a comfortable stay for 11 adults. However, they could sleep two younger children each. So, if 4 of your guests are younger children, you could have 13 guests comfortably. Imagine the savings on a large family vacation over a hotel stay and we have much more privacy and more to offer Plus we have a second cabin down the hill at the same address for large get togethers. It sleeps 6 (subject to availability) and not included in the price. There are stairs down to cabin B from cabin A if your parties are together. Cabin B has two king sized and one queen sized beds and will also be fully equipped for living. There is a smoker grill in the front and the grocery store down the road should have the best cherrywood charcoal I have ever eaten from. Feel free to use wood and downed trees or branches for the fireplace or grill. There will be 4 zero gravity fold out chairs and 4 other fold out chairs inside for your use. Please bring them in when finished. You may be visited by wild animals, occasional strays, or even the neighbors pets. So, you have a nice fenced in area to sit without being bothered if you choose or leave the gates open and let them in if you wish. We call his two friendly medium sized mixed breed dogs Jack and Jill from up the hill, although it isn't their names. They usually don't make a sound and keep bears away. Guest access You will have total access to the property except other guest cabin! You can explore the 1,000 foot of Doe River frontage (as well as the wildlife refuge next to it) plus all 6.47 acres of the property which backs up to the Cherokee National Forest where you can continue on and view the wildlife in a natural setting (at your own risk) and find the tall private waterfall our property gives private access to. Look up regulations for National Forest land. On the side with the two Rental Cabins (both set privately) you will find fruits and nuts in various seasons and they are yours for the picking while you are here and when in season. There are two apple trees, a peach tree, hazelnut trees, 100 strawberry plants, black raspberries, a huge grape vine, wild grapes (use caution to identify), sumac berries (not the poisonous variety), other various berries, and some more exotic fruits. Positively identify everything. We have one friendly neighbor up the long steep driveway who lives on one acre. He may have firewood for sale. Our property borders in front and on each side of his. As you walk up the driveway, shortly after his property to the left of the driveway ends is The Cherokee National Forest. You can also access the National Forest on the more natural side of the property. That side is pure nature on over 4 of the acres and you will find beautiful rock formations and Springs (including one spring box) which flow heavily when it has been rainy. Considering the wild berries, you need to watch for their thorns. This part backs directly up to the Cherokee National Forest and the avid hiker will love it. Across the street next to the Vacation Bible Institute is a road with public access to the Doe River for fishing. Many official Doe River Access Points are nearby for the fisherman. We are: About 6 Minutes from Roan Mountain State Park. 11 miles to Laurel Fork Falls. 13 miles to Watauga Lake (2nd cleanest lake in USA; the lake surface covers 6,430 acres). Even closer to the Watauga River. 13 miles to Elk River Falls. 14 miles from the Roan High Knob. 17 miles to the Roan Mountain Rhododendron Gardens. 20 miles from Sugar Mountain for skiing and similar distance to other skiing areas. 24 miles to Buckeye Lake Recreation Area. 28 miles from BRISTOL MOTOR SPEEDWAY. Also: 7 miles from North Carolina state line. 10 miles from Elizabethton. 20 miles from Johnson City. 35 miles to Boone, NC. Less than 3 miles to the nearest gas station and restaurants. Grocery store is just over 3 miles. ALL YOU NEED... yet backed up to Cherokee National Forest. What more can you ask for? HOW WE GOT STARTED: We purchased this property for an elderly relative as a way to be able to afford the costly constant care she will need after a stroke. We worked tirelessly, ignoring our own business to get this to be a successful place to pay for her expenses without dwindling everything away. We aren't wealthy people, so we had to find another way. A Place in the Wilderness was named after a verse...
