Kemble Mill Cottage (formerly Isis Cottage) is a traditional, honey-coloured Cotswold stone holiday cottage with all the modern amenities of the 21st century, situated within the grounds of Kemble Mill, an historic 16th century watermill. Located down a quiet country lane, it nestles in a secluded and magical setting on the banks of the River Thames, just a few miles from Cirencester in the heart of the Cotswolds Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The cottage has been awarded a 4 Star Gold Award by Visit England which ensures that the standard of accommodation you are booking is very high and that you will thoroughly enjoy the holiday you deserve! Part of the original 'mill' building has been sensitively converted into a delightful retreat whilst retaining many of its original period features. Accommodation is on 2 floors and comprises of 2 bedrooms (1 double and 1 twin), a bathroom with bath and over shower, fully-equipped kitchen and a sitting/dining room with inglenook fireplace (candles only) with picturesque views of the river and surrounding countryside. The cottage was recently fitted with a new kitchen is in excellent decorative order. The cottage has its own private and sheltered garden overlooking the River Thames, home to kingfishers, herons and the occasional Snowy Egret. Water flow is seasonal, depending on rainfall, attracting a wide range of water birds and wildlife. A lawn, gravel garden with patio seating, and an adjacent wild flower meadow complete the outdoor space, providing the ideal spots for relaxation, bird watching or alfresco dining. A tennis court and ample car parking are available. LOCAL SHOPS and AMENITIES : Cirencester: 5 miles (8km) Visit the Corinium Museum, open air market in Market Square on Mondays and Fridays; farmer's market twice a month on 2nd and 4th Saturday; several supermarkets. Wide variety of restaurants, bars and cafes. Village shops: South Cerney has shops, take away restaurants, pharmacy and Post Office - 3 miles (4km). Kemble Stores + Post Office - 2 miles (3km). Ashton Keynes shop and Post Office 3 miles (4km). Local pubs: The Bakers Arms (open all day) - 10 minute walk across fields to Somerford Keynes village. The Wild Duck at Ewen - 30 minute walk from front door along Thames Path. There are several more good local pubs within a few minutes' drive. Walking: The Thames Path is adjacent to the cottage and many wonderful walks are accessible directly from the front door, including several pubs. The Cotswold Way is about 20 min drive away and there are numerous footpaths around the lakes of the Cotswold Water Park. Fishing, golfing, hiking and biking trails are all on the doorstep. This area is also a wildlife enthusiasts' dream and ideal for bird and wildlife watching and exploring the local nature reserves.
