The Orchard, so named because it sits in and adjacent to a number of apple trees, is one of 5 beautiful holiday homes that form The Gallops complex at the Island Riding Centre, which opened in 2017 and is ideally located in the centre of the island just minutes from many attractions and beaches. With a choice of holiday accommodation surrounded by countryside it features a children’s play area, a variety of on site farm animals and unrivalled equestrian facilities making it a popular holiday destination for families, horse lovers and those on business.
Popular with larger groups and families, The Orchard provides everything you need for a self-catering holiday, with a large open plan living space which includes a dining table for 12, a well-equipped kitchen, three large sofas and plenty of space for entertaining. There are four bedrooms, three of which have their own en-suite facilities. Bi-folding doors lead to a large, screened patio with built-in seating area and firepit, ideal for watching the sun go down and star gazing at night. There is an additional al fresco dining area and a hot tub available to hire on request. It also adjoins paddocks which often have the owner’s friendly sheep, Lambo and Cloudy, and Shetland ponies which are popular with younger guests. The property has gardens on all sides, ideal for sitting out and enjoying the sunshine. There is private parking for 4 cars with a free electric charging point and additional parking in the main car park. An enclosed children’s play area is on-site with a ‘mini beach’, play equipment and football goals. Converted in 2017 the property has wood flooring throughout and has accommodated a number of wheelchair users and guests requiring single storey accommodation.
For horse riding enthusiasts the riding school which is RDA kite-marked (riding for the disabled) offers lessons from qualified instructors and caters for riders of all ages and abilities including beginners, wheelchair users and those with limited mobility, guests receive 10% discount on all on site riding too! The equestrian centre boasts a 60m x 25m indoor wax-fibre arena with viewing areas, tack shop and cafe, a 60m x 40m outdoor arena with quality wax surface and superb drainage. For guests wishing to bring their own horses, there is a purpose-built livery yard with horse walker, sheltered wash down area, solarium and ample grazing (subject to ground conditions). On-site hacking is also available as are escorted off-site trail and beach rides.
Newport is less than 5 minutes’ drive whilst Ryde with its pleasant beaches is 15 minutes’ away. Both are accessible by bus (no 9) which stops outside the main entrance. A selection of pubs, shops, takeaways, chemist and post office are located in Wootton just over a mile away. The island is a paradise for walkers, country lovers, bird watchers and cyclists. There are local forests to enjoy walks and horse riding, and for cyclists there is a choice of challenging off road bridleways, peaceful byways and level purpose-made tracks along former railway lines. Beach 6 miles. Shop, pub and restaurant 1 mile.
