Welcome to The Bear Den Chatuge! Our spacious 3400 square feet, comfortable, cozy home is the perfect getaway - private and secluded on a wonderful cul de sac in a quiet cove and short drive to Hiawassee and Hayesville. 4b/3b on 2 levels with a variety of living spaces inside and out make this the perfect home for friends, family or a romantic getaway. There are lots of outdoor activities in the area for you to enjoy including all the water sports, boating, hiking, shopping, dining and more.
We can be reached at any time during your stay with us and can be at the property within 2.5 hours if needed. We also have a management company and a housekeeping service that is local and can help with any issues that might arise.
Lake Chatuge is the most beautiful location in Western North Carolina and North Georgia. It is TVA owned and 70% undeveloped. If you like the quite peace and tranquility of the mountains, the fun of lake sports and fishing and the close proximity of two darling towns with quaint shopping, delicious dining options and amazing character, this is the vacation spot for you. Located two hours from Atlanta, Chattanooga and Asheville, our property offers clean, updated luxury with private beautiful views and loads to do for the perfect family vacation, romantic getaway or weekend away. What is YOUR perfect way to vacation? Sitting on your private dock, waterskiing or tubing, hiking the Appalachian Trail or touring North Georgia Wineries… it’s all at the Appalachian mountains and Lake Chatuge. Lake Chatuge is approx 7500 acre with 167 miles of shoreline on the NC and GA line in western NC and NE Ga. Lake Chatuge is known for spotted bass and largemouth bass.
The entire home is yours!! You will have access to the entire main living area and entire terrace level. There are two locked owners closets and one large storage area in the basement that will be locked and are not accessible to renters. There is an exterior stand alone garage that is also not accessible.
Waterfront property, sleeps 13 people on beautiful lot with private covered dock and boat slip. You can swim and float right off the dock in the deep, clear mountain water! This home’s highlight are the many areas to enjoy the lakefront views: grab one of the 14 Adirondack chairs around 3 outdoor living spaces and enjoy the great outdoors from any location or view you wish! Have coffee on the deck and drinks and appetizers by the waterfront firepit. Use the extra refrigerator to keep extra beverages cold while enjoying the sunshine and the boat on Lake Chatuge. This house has everything you need for the perfect vacation. Wake up in one of the two master bedrooms and gaze out your sliding glass doors to the lakefront view and have coffee in bed!
The bedrooms are large and roomy while the open floor plan living area has a spacious seating area with a sectional couch around a large HD flat Screen Smart TV and a beautiful gas log fireplace for those chilly winter nights. There is a dining table with seating for up to 8 diners with additional seating for 3 at the kitchen bar, an additional table for 4 in the main living area and seating for 4 at the outdoor bistro table on the screened in porch (Bistro table coming September 2020).
The master bedroom has a King sized bed, a large flat-screen HD TV, and an en-suite bathroom complete with a newly tiled shower and a walk in closet. The master bedroom also has a sliding glass door opening out to your waterfront deck and a full size walk in closet with luggage rack to unpack and organize.
The second master bedroom has a King size bed, large walk–in closets with a luggage rack and a dresser. The sliding glass door opens directly out to your waterfront deck and the lounge chairs from Frontgate and Gardinrod. There is a small sitting area in this room to get away for some privacy and enjoy a quiet moment!
The third bedroom is also on the main level with a queen size bed, chair and a good size closet and luggage rack.
On the terrace level there is an additional 4th bedroom with 2 queen beds, 2 twin beds and a full size futon. In the rec room there are two queen size futons if needed (futon's arriving Sept 2020). The Terrace level also offers it’s own full bath and laundry room.

This property will accommodate 13 people. The lot offers an easy gradual slope down to the lake and a fenced in yard (no pets allowed but great for small children to keep away from the water.) There is a private boat ramp for the homes on this street and there are several companies that offer boat rentals. You can swim directly off the dock in a quiet cove.
Getting around: There is no public transportation in the area so a vehicle (or boat!) is a necessity.
There is ample driveway parking for up to four vehicles. Please do not bring more than four cars. Please do not park on the street or leave the vehicles at the private boat ramp a few doors down from our home as that is a shared ramp with 6 other homes. Thank you!

Summary: This is a home that should be placed on everyone’s top three list in the Hayesville/Hiawassee area. Not only is it a lakefront with recreational amenities that surpass most in the area, it is so beautifully decorated, clean, well equipped, and comfortable. From the cozy fireplace setting in the family room to the beautiful views from the bedrooms, this home has it all. We used it to house several bridesmaids for my daughter’s wedding. They were so grateful to be able to stay in a newly renovated home close to the wedding venue (Mountain Harbour Golf Club). The whole weekend could not have gone better! Kristen is a host that stands out among many hosts because she is so enthusiastic about accommodating her guests. I did not know her before previewing her house a s a rental for our wedding guests. She asked me on more than one occasion whether there was anything she could do to make the experience better, accommodated all of my requests, and has an amazing website with up-to-date calendar events in the area as well as things to do in and around Haysville that surpass even the Chamber of Commerce website. I just want to thank Kristin for giving our bridesmaids a truly memorable experience and making her home available as a rental. We will surely suggest this home for other guests at future visits.
