The Rainforest rises behind us with the beautiful Pico Bonito mountain and numerous streams, rivers and creeks offering zip lines, mountain biking, hiking, wildlife viewing of over 400 species of birds to listen and view. The beautiful and amazing Cayos Cochinos and Bay Islands have a ferry system that can take you over for the day or to explore and spend a day or two and return to the Mainland. Sambo Creek to the east has fishing and snorkeling tours that leave everyday and also have a couple of great restaurants, dining rooms to sample true local Honduran foods and abundant seafood dishes. There are many bus tours that can take you into the beautiful historic village of Copan Ruins, that is nestled in the mountains and the base for exploring the historically important Mayan Ruins dating back to 475 AD and earlier. The twisting cobblestone streets with Tuk Tuks to take you anywhere and the streets and stores are full of local handicrafts, and art as well as numerous hotels in the town center and every kind of dining cuisine to tantalize the taste buds.
