Summary: First, let me say that there is not a thing wrong with the property itself. Just as described. Our frustrations and low star ratings have to do with our customer experience throughout the entire process of renting this vacation home. Frustrations: 1) At reservation time, there was no way to "accept" or "decline" the rental agreement. When we asked about how to decline it (thus canceling the reservation within 24 hours of making it), we were told we had already "accepted" it by simply opening the agreement to read it. 2) Because we made the reservation within 60 days of the rental dates, they would not let us cancel without losing half of the full payment ... that fee was half the nightly cost of the house, plus half for other fees by VRBO, cleaning, and Rental Agency (DOUBLE the cost for just renting the property!!!!) 3) The property description says nothing about Golf Cart Rentals not being allowed. We asked the property rental agency about renting one ahead of time and they only said, 'No golf cart is provided with the property rental'. So, we reserved one through their concierge service and when we arrived on the property, there were signs that no rentals were allowed in the gated community. The good news is that the concierge was able to cancel/refund our order. 4) The email sent with check-in details had the WRONG gate access code and the notebook in the house had the WRONG pool access code. We relied on the kindness of neighbors to get the codes for each.
