Atherfield Green Farm Holiday Cottages are situated in a lovely rural location on the south-west side of the Isle of Wight, which can only be described as simply stunning. The views from these cottages are truly spectacular, stretching across miles of unbroken farmland and countryside.
There is a choice of four cottages, Wisteria Cottage (ref UK11690), Rose Cottage (ref UK11689), Honeysuckle Cottage (ref UK11688) and Lavender Cottage (ref UK11687). All have Wi-Fi and have been purposely designed to be accessible for disabled guests. These lovely holiday homes are dog friendly too, so you can bring your pet pooch on your island getaway with you. Guests also have the use of a shared hot tub in the communal garden. Wisteria Cottage however comes with its own private hot tub.
The farm is surrounded by an intricate network of quiet lanes and footpaths. The nearby downland offers fantastic views across the island, whilst sea and cliff walks can be enjoyed along the coastal paths in both directions only a mile away. Outdoor pursuits on the island are well catered for and include horse riding, fishing, paragliding, water sports and golf.
The location is excellent for walkers and cyclists. You can cycle to the famous Needles landmark or even take on the full round the island route, which is 66 miles long. Along the way you will find numerous restaurants, pubs and cafés, amongst the quaint villages serving tasty local produce. The nearest neighbouring village, Chale Green, is approximately 2 miles away. A little further afield are the villages of Shorwell and Brighstone, both of which are very picturesque with pretty thatched cottages and ancient churches.
Atherfield Green Farm is ideally placed to access the stunning beaches and chines located all along the island’s beautiful south-west coast. One of its best kept secrets is Compton beach which offers a 2 mile stretch of contrasting dark and golden sands and a stunning backdrop of multi-coloured sandstone cliffs. It’s also a great place to go fossil hunting, you can even book tours on the beach to see the dinosaur footprints in the sandstone ledge at Hanover Point that are exposed at low tide.
There are numerous attractions for all ages on this beautiful island. Take a visit to Queen Victoria’s favourite holiday residence, Osborne House and its gardens, or perhaps visit nearby Blackgang Chine which is the oldest theme park attraction in the UK, Ventnor Botanical Gardens, Carisbrooke Castle or the world renowned sailing town of Cowes. Beach 1½ miles. Shop 2 miles, pub and restaurant 2½ miles.

All four cottages are ground floor disabled/wheelchair accessible with level entry from the car park into the individual cottages. All of the doorways, internal and external, are wide enough to allow for wheelchairs, with no steps or raised thresholds to negotiate. All cottages also all have a ground floor wet room, roughly the same size with a wheel-in shower, toilet and sink in each, there are various grab rails in useful places. Each cottage has a raised toilet seat and all cottages have a riser-recliner electric chair in the lounge.

Lavender (UK11687), Honeysuckle (UK11688), Rose (UK61189) and Wisteria (UK11690) can be booked together to accommodate up to 26 guests.
Wisteria Cottage features two 3ft electric beds in Bedroom 1 along with an en-suite walk in wet room. The beds can be placed together to make a Superking bed on request.
Rose Cottage has two fully electric profiling beds in the ground floor bedroom.
2 of the bedrooms have zip and link beds which can be made up as singles or double, please request at time of booking.
Lavender cottage has two fully electric profiling beds and there is a super king double in the other bedroom that can be made into twins on request.
Honeysuckle Cottage has a super king bed in the ground floor bedroom. This can be separated into two singles and one of the singles put onto risers if you need access for a hoist (not supplied). Alternatively we can take out one of the singles and provide a fully electric profiling bed if you prefer.
For Honeysuckle Cottage (UK11688) a private hot tub will be available from April 2021.
