Milton Cottage is a superb fully refurbished cottage set within our family grounds. Sleeps four comfortably between one double room and one twin room, a well equipped kitchen to meet all your culinary needs and a bright family bathroom with bath/shower over. The living room, where you can relax and admire the stunning views of The Cromdale Hills from the large window, has a feature open fire and dining area. All rooms are freshly decorated to a high standard which enhances the charm and comfort of the cottage. A welcome pack consisting of bread, milk, butter, fresh orange juice, our free range eggs, locally sourced bacon and shortbread biscuits are included when booking for 7 nights. Electricity and heating are included in your rental, but we do politely request that you are considerate with your usage and do not leave on unnecessary lights, heaters or the water heater, also included is a 50 kg bag of coal. Milton is located in the small village of Cromdale where we have our small holding with friendly Sheep, Highland Cow and Free Range Chickens. Our well equipped Cottage is a great base to explore Northern Scotland including local attractions such as Strathspey Steam Railway, Landmark Adventure Park, The Heather Centre, Highland Wildlife Park, Tree Zone, Cairngorm Brewery and the Ospreys at RSPB Loch Garten to name but a few. Grantown-On-Spey is three miles from Cromdale which has all local amenities, bars, hotels and restaurants. Grantown also has a lovely 18 hole golf course through beautiful woodland. The holiday resort of Aviemore is just 15 miles away and the Cairngorm Mountain Range is 25 miles which is home to Scotland's only Funicular Railway. This is a unique visitor experience that allows people to reach the top station where the Ptarmigan Restaurant is located with panoramic views from over 3,500 ft. The Highland Folk Museum in Newtonmore is located over 2 complementary areas, exhibiting different aspects of the life of a Highlander over the past 300 years. You can wander through houses, crofts and even amongst animals. To all visitors this is an experience that will enrich your life. Then there is the famous Malt Whisky Trail Of Speyside, you'll find more than half of Scotlands Malt Whisky Distilleries, each with its own warm welcome and an invitation to see, smell, taste and absorb the magic of Whisky. Spirit Of Speyside Whisky Festival 27th April - 1st May 2017. The Speyside Way~ Starting at Buckie on the Moray coastline, The Speyside Way follows the course of the mighty River Spey up to Aviemore in the Cairngorms. As it reaches Cromdale the Way passes the door of Milton Cottage where you can pick up the trail if only to walk to Grantown-On-Spey through breathtaking scenery and woodland. Milton Cottage sits within the battle ground of the Historic Battle Of Cromdale 1690 which was the final battle fought on the British Mainland in support of the first Jacobite Rising. The Battle Of Cromdale has been immortalised by the Pipe tune "The Haughs Of Cromdale" There are fantastic walks on your doorstep while staying at Milton Cottage. The minor Haugh Road that passes Milton's drive gives you easy access to The Cromdale Hills where you can walk through Lethendry Farm to view the remains of Lethendry Castle and continue on up to The Viewpoint. Speyside stretches out before you here towards Grantown-On-Spey. Carry on up the Cromdale hills where you will find the Pipers Stone, this is where a Jacobite Piper stood during The Battle of Cromdale, playing tunes to urge his men on until he finally expired. Then to the summit where you will reach the Cairn that can be seen from the panoramic views at Milton Cottage.
