Singapore Other | 1960 Summary: Escape

1 Bedroom Place in Singapore

Summary:
Escape to the ultimate island getaway in 1960! The ideal beach-side destination located in an uninhabited area of the Straits of Singapore—south of Singapore's main island. A hidden paradise with one of Singapore's cleanest and longest stretches of white sand beach, and water sports you can enjoy.
The Space:
1960 is inspired by the raw beauty of industrial interior design, with black and dark wood finishes such as our countertop and breakfast nook, and minimal furnishings that even city-dwellers can enjoy the rustic charm of our tiny houses.
Your home away from home on the island of Lazarus, with easy beach access and comfortable accommodations including a queen-sized bed, and a sofa bed that can sleep 2-3 adults OR 2 adults and 2 children and children under the age of 12. Split air conditioning, a kitchenette, cutlery, microwave, and excellent bathroom facilities are all included.
The tiny houses are connected to a bio septic system for the treatment of waste water. Usage of chemical based products would disturb the balance of the septic system. Hence in our bathroom, we provide all-natural, botanical-based shampoo, conditioner and soap by our local brand “bare for bare”. We encourage you to use our products or if you are bringing your own, please use products that are natural and botanical-basedtoo.
IMPORTANT NOTE: As this is an island, there will be other guests on the property staying in chalets, glamping tents, and other tiny houses next to you.
Guest Access:
Guests will have access to the tiny house and anywhere around the island, with the exception of the inventory room and other guests' tiny houses (which is strictly off-limits).
The Neighborhood:
Lazarus Island, also known as Pulau Sakijang Pelepah, which means "island of barking deer and palm trees" in Malay, is named after the island`s wildlife, which is believed to have been a deer barking in the area.
However, because the name was difficult to pronounce, the colonial governor changed it to Lazarus, which was once home to the Orang Laut community and a safe haven for pirates roaming the island.
In the late 19th century, between 1902 and 1914, records show that a fire broke out and wiped out abandoned isolation facilities, detention warehouses, and vegetation on the island.
Today, only a few desolate buildings from that dark past remain, hidden behind pristine beaches, artificial coastlines, and regrown vegetation that has reclaimed the land, creating a beautiful island retreat for mainland Singaporeans looking to escape the city.
