The Castillo de la Paz - "Castle of Peace" is a beautiful historic church just a few blocks to Historic Downtown St. Augustine.
With 2 bedrooms, a library den, 2.5 bathrooms, WIFI, a well appointed kitchen, large living space, coffee bar, pool table, office area and outdoor seating and updated landscaping in the garden, this property is sure to make you fall in love with St. Augustine and everything it has to offer.
Built in 1918, it has been lovingly converted into a vacation home in our nation's oldest city, all while maintaining the original hardwood floors & windows. Everything is within walking distance to all St. Augustine has to offer - shops, restaurants, points of interest, historic sites, you name it! In addition, it is only one block from US 1 so getting to additional stores, restaurants, the beach, or even going to Jacksonville for the day could not be easier. This home is truly in a perfect location for anything you could possibly need or want during your Saint Augustine adventure!
***PLEASE, if you are expecting pristine, 5 star resort accommodations... do not book this church. Remember that this unique property is approximately 105 years old and so are many of the furnishings, belongings, and systems. Though extremely well built, the marks of time and character are all over, paint is peeling, plaster has cracks, original floors are scratched, some outlets and light switches do not work, it can be drafty in spots, etc. We have updated everything as much as possible to allow for a comfortable stay without sacrificing the soul of the property. We ask that you PLEASE treat this church with the respect that it deserves. This is all part of the charm and beauty of this piece of history that we are happy to share with you.***
