Ready to unplug and relax? Enjoy a vacation in a comfortable, warm, rustic house with a spectacular view of Lake Seventeen, one of the premiere lakes in the area. Nestled atop a hill on a quiet peninsula in the Northwoods of Wisconsin, this getaway is the perfect place for families, larger groups of friends, or as a retreat to relax with all beauty of nature and all the comforts of home. Located five miles south of Minocqua in Hazelhurst (the quiet side of the Northwoods), you can reach these beautiful surroundings in only six hours from the Chicago area. The area boasts various biking, hiking and snowmobile trails as well as restaurants in a rustic area where you are well away from the hustle and bustle of the city. There is an indoor water park at one of the local hotels, a zoo, miniature golf, horse back riding, water shows in the summer on Lake Minocqua, multiple theatres to watch live productions as well as a casino on the local Indian Reservation. The local Chamber of Commerce hosts more the 70 events each year including Beef-O-Rama, craft, jewelry and art shows. Eat breakfast, lunch or dinner overlooking the lake in the "lake room" featuring large 5 ft windows facing west, north and south. Our dramatic western exposure allows you to see spectacular sunsets in front of the cozy fire pit (located on the landing half way to the lake) or on the patio outside the basement apartment -- a perfect place for cocktails! The great room is a combination living room with a gas fireplace, kitchen and dinette area, and is perfect for "family game nights," movies, or meetings. Outdoor activities abound: During the Spring and Summer, spend time sitting on the pier, swimming in the lake to the island in front of the house which protects swimmers from boat traffic, or fishing for bluegill, walleye, bass or musky. In the winter, have fun ice fishing, snowmobiling, cross country skiing or just walking in the snow or across the lake on the ice. The meandering path to the lake has railings from the house all the way to the lake along the path. Three comfortable and spacious bedrooms are upstairs -- two have queen-sized beds and one with a twin bed with a full private bathroom with a tub. The basement room has its own full sized bathroom and a pull out futon that sleeps two as well as its own gas fireplace, microwave, coffee bar and refrigerator. The full kitchen is equipped with a gas stove and oven, and full sized refrigerator. (You can either drive 11 miles to do your grocery shopping or have the groceries delivered to you at the home.) Laundry facilities are also available on site. A gas grill is available for use on the porch next to the lake room and a regular grill can be used on the landing with the fire pit to keep you warm on cool nights. Water to the house is provided from our private well so it is free of all chemicals and additives so no need to buy bottled water. A generator is available in case of power outtages. The area has numerous churches of all denominations. In case of an emergency, the home is close to a hospital plus urgent care centers. Both Walgreens and Walmart have stores within 15 miles for shopping and/or prescription refills. For guests with special needs we have a tub seat available as well as railings which you can easily slide under any of the beds. The railings on the path to the lake make walking down to the lake possible for older guests or those with mobility issues. All in all, this house is a great place to enjoy the beauty of nature, escape the stresses of the city, to relax and to create memories with friends and family in a comfortable setting where you can put your feet up on the couch.
