Traditional Catalan masia meets spa retreat at Villa Vallferosa for up to 28 guests, set among the expansive Spanish countryside.
This delicately restored farmhouse welcomes large groups into its rustic-yet-romantic design featuring stone walls, vaulted archways, and copious lounge space.
A private indoor/outdoor pool (3m x 5m) features hydromassage jets, LED lighting, and a peaceful waterfall, allowing for relaxing swims in all seasons.
Between lounging in one of two living rooms with expansive windows providing views of the hills and beyond, cooking meals in the fully equipped kitchen, or exploring the grounds and forest surrounding the 1,000-square-meter property, guests can entertain themselves with a ping pong table and a children's play area.
Seven bedrooms each house a double bed and an ensuite bathroom, and two triple bedrooms feature a double bed plus one single bed, with ensuite bathrooms, for a total of 9 bedrooms for 18-28 guests. 10 supplementary single beds can be added. The bed sizes are 100x200 cm for single bed and 130x200 cm for the double bed.
With a central elevator/lift, this property is adapted for guests with limited mobility.
The rural location of this villa is certainly one of its draws, but the town of Tora is just 15 minutes away and is home to a plethora of restaurants, shops, bakeries, a supermarket, and a pharmacy. Summary: This was a wonderful, spacious, well-appointed house that met the needs of our extended three-generation family very well. We particularly loved the large outside kitchen/dining/living area with its BBQ, pizza oven, paella grill (we had a fantastic catered meal one evening), fridge-freezer and dishwasher. There was a more than ample amount and range of crockery, cutlery and glassware in both the outside and main indoor kitchen and a useful supply of condiments. For those wanting some peace and quiet the upstairs living room with its spectacular view was a great refuge. The pre-5 children loved the play house, playground and sit-on tractors as well. of course, as the swimming pool. The availability of Netflix on the two large televisions also offered useful entertainment when we needed them to come in from the midday sun for a while. The owners were very helpful, popping by every other day to check that there were no major problems. We can recommend the town of Solsona about 15 minutes drive away for its reasonably-sized supermarket, lovely old town and good choice of restaurants. Our suggestions to enhance this amazing villa further would be: provision of twothree parasols to offer the children shade as they run in and out of the pool fans to cool the bedrooms, a washing line and pegs (we bought these as, although there is a dryer, many clothes couldn't be tumble-dried and it also seemed a shame to waste nature's dryer) pool towels possibly some pool toys for the children (we left those we bought) and bigger recycling boxes with clear guidance on what goes where.
